Description

The course introduces participants to basic common techniques for performing basic statistical, data mining and machine learning tasks. Participants will gain experience in recognizing the domain of application of the studied methods and will have the opportunity to experiment and apply the learnt techniques to selected problems and different types of data.

The following main topics will be covered:
- Statistics
- Descriptive statistics
- Basic parameters and estimation
- Probabilities and distributions
- Hypothesis testing
- Correlation and covariances
- Simple linear regression
- Data mining and machine learning
- Frequent Pattern Mining and Association Rule Mining
- Clustering
- Anomaly Detection
- Classification
- Practical data analysis

Participants are expected to have basic knowledge of programming (at an introductory level) e.g. in Python. No advanced programming experience is required.
